Beyond the fact that the Caprices Festival is as one of the most original festivals in Switzerland, one of its characteristics lies in its green approach. The idyllic surroundings of Crans-Montana necessitate special attention in order to preserve the area. Therefore the Caprices Festival’s ecological partners will be participating in the domain of recycling, sustainable development and treatment of waste at the event.
PET RECYCLING
Founded in 1990, the PRS PET-Recycling Switzerland association takes care of collecting PET drink bottles since the OEB 1990 (Ordonnance sur les emballages pour boissons) came into force.
Today, it has a network of PET bottle collection points covering the whole of Switzerland.
CAPRICES FESTIVAL : AN EXAMPLE OF FESTIVE PREVENTION
Since 2004, Caprices Festival is committed to prevention. It emphasizes on information and risk reduction through the development of specific projects. Two axes are set up for this purpose: a relaxation area and a charter of bartenders. Also carrying the Label Fiesta, in partnership with the Valais League against Drug Addictions (LVT), the Festival is implementing structural and security measures offered by this label, working closely with the police, thus allowing an optimal course of the event. This comprehensive approach enables festival-goers to party while avoiding risks.
YOUTH-TO-YOUTH PROGRAMME
At the Festival, a relaxation area offers a lounge with deckchairs, coffee tables and calm. Festival-goers can come to rest, eat fruits and drink a glass of water. Thirteen volunteers – a nurse specialized in prevention and twelve nursing students from the Haute Ecole de la Santé La Source – are available to talk to the night owls. Indeed, thèse future health professionals organize, as part of their courses on prevention, playful and sometimes shifted entertainment to arouse the curiosity of the festival-goers. Ear plugs and condoms are available as well as documentation on various issues related to parties and their risks.
ONE BRACELET = 1.- CHF DISCOUNT ON NON-ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
The Charter of bartenders clarifies the situation regarding the sale of alcohol to minors. Indeed, festival-goers wear bracelets with a color code. This code makes it easier for bartenders and allows a discount of 1 .- frs on all soft drinks. Red for people under the age of 16, blue for 16 to 18 and yellow for drivers who choose to stay sober and drive friends back home. The Charter of bartenders encourage a strong commitment by the bar staff to enforce the legal framework. This action is conducted in collaboration with the LVT and “Be My Angel Tonight” – a program which prevents alcohol, drugs and road safety. This action was created many years ago by the Foundation Vaud against alcoholism (RVF) and especially aims 16 – 25 years old, it is well known to the night owls.
Whether in terms of noise, consumption of alcohol, road safety or the risk of transmission of sexual diseases, the Caprices Festival cares about the health of the festival-goers. It takes all necessary measures, such as an infirmary and creating an atmosphere of safety, so that the party can be enjoyed by everyone from dusk till dawn.

MOBILITY
The festival encourages its visitors to travel to Crans-Montana by public transport. Urban Time, which for four years has been presenting awards to various Swiss festivals in different sectors, elected Caprices Festival winners in 2007 in the « best transport » category.
So, exit traffic, pollution and the cost of car parks, thanks in particular to the TCS buses !
Thus, the Caprices Festival is happy to join forces with the TCS for the second year running: 5 routes have been planned, departing from 20 large towns and cities in French-speaking Switzerland, and at unbeatable prices.
Furthermore, on presentation of a concert ticket, the Sierre – Crans-Montana funicular journey and the shuttle bus service within the resort are also free. More information…
